iSmithers Rapra Publishing has announced the release of Ozonation of Organic and Polymer Compounds, the first technical title of its kind.

The study of kinetics and mechanism of ozone reactions is an important field in modern science, most especially with developing new theories to counteract the problem of 'ozone holes'. Ozonation and chemical kinetics are one of the key components for developing new, highly efficient technologies in the chemical industry, as well as providing support in the development of solutions for the ecological and medical problems that harmful ozone can cause.
The careful and accurate study of ozone and its qualities promotes invention of original theories, as well as improvement in well known methods, in application to experiments and procedures in relevant industries. A number of laboratory and industrial methods for its synthesis have been proposed and are discussed in this book which will be highly interesting and invaluable.

The author, Gennady Zaikov, has written over 2500 original articles and it is apparent from this work that he has made valuable contributions to the theory and practice of techniques used in the polymer industry. His insight and approach to this industry will prove an invaluable source of information for those in a similar line of work, whether that is chemists, chemical engineers or R&D managers.

P2i showcases liquid repellent nano-coating for hearing aids

At the AudiologyNOW! 2010 show in San Diego next month, UK-based coatings company P2i will display their relatively new Aridion liquid-repellant nano-coating. Designed for exposure to humidity or sweat, the polymer layer is applied by a pulsed ion gas process that lower’s the hearing aid’s surface energy, coaxing water away from delicate components.

Submersible FlowCAM catches particle images and data in-situ and real-time

Fluid Imaging Technologies recently introduced its Submersible FlowCAM particle and cell imaging and analysis system at Ocean Sciences 2010 in Portland, Ore. The remote sensing platform can be used for continuous, unattended monitoring tethered to research vessels or autonomous submersibles.
